EE says it has switched on 4G in 12 more towns in the UK, bringing the total number of high-speed mobile areas covered by the company to 187.
As part of its rollout, the company said Antrim, Bridgend, Burnley, Coleraine, Leigh, Livingston, Macclesfield, Newtownabbey, Nuneaton, Pontypool, Sittingbourne and Tamworth had been switched on for 4G, while it had also upgraded services on routes between Edinburgh and Glasgow, and Cardiff and Swansea.
The company said it was also working to fill in areas in towns where there was already coverage but not in all neighbourhoods.
“As well as expanding our 4G network into new areas, our teams are switching on new 4G sites in our existing 4G cities and towns to make the EE network experience even better,” said EE CEO Olaf Swantee.
Three’s personal touch
Three is also rolling out its 4G services, but in an odd marketing tactic is planning on sending out customised adverts to inform users with 4G-capable handsets when their area has been upgraded and how to take advantage of the higher speed offering.
Subscribers will receive a link to a video featuring CEO Dave Dyson explaining that 4G has been switched on and how to download software to make it work on their handsets.
